For our wedding, someone gave us a giant beehive cake server. I really hope that person is not reading this blog. We knew we'd never use it so we took it back to the store. Eight months later we bought a wedding gift for ourselves. 365 days of Slow-cooking!! You know of course how much I love my crock pot, so this is AWESOME! I can't wait to try new recipes.

My new passport has ARRIVED!! We are that much closer to our second honeymoon/anniversary cruise! I can hardly wait to see the big beautiful world with the love of my life! Four more months and we'll be sailing the Mediterranean!

Sunday afternoon at the Merrill's. We spent a relaxing afternoon on the patio in the warm weather, watching Bailey and Holly chase each other around the yard. I love spending time with the Merrill family, especially when Ryan and Kyle are there too!

This sight brought the BIGGEST smile to my face! Summer fruit is back!!! That means NECTARINES!! Yessss! I think if it were physically possible, I could probably surive on fruit alone for the rest of my life. LOVE IT!!

I'm re-reading a favorite series from high school called Uglies. It really is more of a junior high/high school reading level... which just goes to show you that I need something great to read that's for big kids. Haha. But in the mean time, the story is great, and it's been long enough since I've read it that I find myself surprised at some of the things that happen. Haha!

I haven't had a magazine perscription since Nickelodeon Magazine. Haha. When Eric gave me the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook for Christmas we found out it came with a free year's subscription to Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. Sweet! I love it for the recipes... and who knows, maybe someday I'll have a garden party.

Potential problem: It turns out that the lovely tree just outside our apartment is a cherry tree. So hopefully Bailey doen't get sick eating cherries that fall to the ground. Otherwise I'm just going to have to pull a Lincoln and cut it down. :P

 Our last day of vacation brings us to the Hogle Zoo! Of course we had to take this classic picture from both of our childhoods...

...but this is the one that kills me! It's an ostrich egg I think. Eric took a picture of me inside of a tortoise shell, so I made him climb inside the egg. This girl was looking at him like "Umm.... YOU are not a child and THIS is my giant ostrich egg." Haha. Love it.

We're in St. George! Eric wanted to go to IHOP this morning. I hate IHOP. He said he wouldn't make me, but insisted that if we just stuck to pancakes or french toast, it wouldn't be disgusting. So we went... and it made me sick. Haha. But it was fun anyway.

 That afternoon Eric and I saw Men in Black III in 3D! It was a good show and especially great company!

 As far as I can remember, I've never been to a batting cage. I don't think I've ever even played baseball. We went to Fiesta Fun in the evening and I got my chance! Eric batted like a pro.... I just asked him if he would keep track of how many pitches I hit and prayed one wouldn't hit me in the face. I think I hit 10 out of 15 balls! I'm pretty impressed with myself! They weren't even softballs!

I played Deal or No Deal in the arcade with Eric as my coach. Well, he was mostly my coach anyway. At the very end I was down to an offer of 49 tickets over the risk that my suitcase held 20 tickets instead of 75. I'm not a gambler. Eric said to take the offer, but I thought it was too risky. So I took the offer. Guess what was in the suitcase. 75 tickets that could have been mine. Eric said he's never taking me to Vegas. Haha.

Vacation time!! Eric and I have been REALLY wanting some time alone together. With our work schedules often conflicting it's been tough to see each other much during the week. We've managed to have a date night every week but we needed some q-time with each other. So we got some time off work and decided to take a quick weekend trip down to St. George! Mom Merrill is kind enough to let us stay in her house down there. So on Friday afternoon we were off!

I was at work today and I got a text from Jade that said she found a tooth in the carpet. She assumed it must have once been Bailey's and she put in a plastic bag on the counter for me. I flipped. My dog's teeth are falling out??? Oh great. Now what? Do we need to take her to the vet? Is she going to lose more teeth?? I looked in the internet to find out whether it's normal for puppies to lose their teeth. Turns out it is. Puppies lose teeth just like humans, only theirs grow back within a week. Huh. Who knew? ...I'm a first time puppy-raiser okay?? Haha

For our date night Eric and I went out and had a campfire. We roasted hot dogs and starbursts, told stories, and had a great time together. Afterward we went to the grocery store smelling like smoke and bought ingredients to make pina coladas. Yum!

Eric decided that he wanted to take on the project of cleaning out my family's hot tup while we were staying with them. At first I wasn't on board with the project. The hot tub has been sitting there untouched for the entire six years that we've lived in that house. It was partly full of murky water, leaves, and even a few mouse corpses. Not really a job that was calling my name. Somehow Eric talked me into it... I think it was because he agreed to deal with the mice part. And so we went to work. We sprayed and scrubbed and drained and cleaned. And before long, the hot tub was like new! And I was BRAVERY again! I slayed spiders, conquered my gagging fear of dead mouse germs, and shined that puppy right up! We filled it up with water and got it all ready. Now all it needs is some chemicals!

There was a solar eclipse today that was visible in Utah. Eric had the brilliant idea of getting my dad's welding helmet so that we could look directly at the eclipse. We got to watch part of the eclipse take place but then it got cloudy so we missed the full eclipse. But it was a cool experience! I've never seen a solar eclipse before!

We also had a campfire in the evening and roasted hot dogs. Macy and Brad came too!

Girls night!! Eric had to work tonight so I brought Jade and Libby up to our apartment to have a girls night! We ordered pizza and watched a movie together. It was a good time! I love having Jade and Libby over to stay with us!

I LOVE riding my bike. It's probably my favorite way to exercise. So I got my old bike out of the garage and took it for a spin around the city! Sure, it's probably a little small for me since I got it when I was about eleven... but it still gets me around!

Tonight Eric and I attempted to help Libby with her Geometry homework. I was really good at Geometry in 9th grade. Unfortunately I haven't been in 9th grade for 8 years. It took a few hours. I studied the Geometry book and looked over Libby's study sheet, and eventually between the 3 of us we figured it out. Yay! I helped Libby finish her homework and study for her test. Math... oh how much I will never miss it.

This morning I decided I'd take Bailey for a walk. I called out asking if she wanted to go for a walk and Ruby (my parents' dog) came running down the stairs looking hopeful. Oh great. Poor Ruby. Mom and Dad left her, and she HATES Bailey. All Bailey wants to do is play with Ruby and all Ruby wants to do is hide from Bailey and be left alone. So poor Ruby was going to be left home alone while I took my dog for a walk. Tough life. I couldn't stand Ruby's hopeful face so I decided to take Ruby AND Bailey for a walk at the same time. Surprisingly, Ruby stayed on my right side and Bailey stayed on my left. We went for a jog and no one got killed!

Well, my parents left to go out of town today... PARTY TIME!! We took Jade and Libby out for Family Home Evening and we're going to be staying with them while mom and dad are on their motorcycle  trip. We went to Zupa's and then played miniature golf and arcade games at Boondocks!

Tonight we visited both of our mom's houses for Mother's Day. At the Merrill's we played Tripoley, a family favorite. It's a lot of fun and for some reason I have really good luck with it! I won! I had so many chips I could have been rich! Bob's been trying to convince me that that's why we should play with real money... Haha.

Happy Mother's Day Mom Hammond and Mom Merrill! :) I made these lovely chocolate dipped strawberries for our moms... and then ruined them. It was very sad. Fortunately I took a picture, but then I stored them in an airtight container, which was a bad idea. It made the strawberries sweat and rot quickly. So come Mother's Day I opened them up to find rotten strawberries. Oh no! Well, I guess I'll have to re-make them and it will be a late Mother's Day present.
That aside... we sure are grateful for our wonderful moms. Our sweet moms raised us and taught us how to be good people. They continue to be incredible examples and inspirations to us. We are so grateful to feel endless support and love from both of them and we love them so much!

Eric's first day of school!! Eric is now not only working 36 hours a week at the hospital, he's also taking 2 classes at Weber to help him get into the nursing program. He's taking a Bio-med class and a criminal justice class. He wakes up at 5:45 in the morning to catch the bus to go to Weber twice a week. I don't know how he does it. I think the schedule he's taking on would kill me. But Eric is pretty much a superhero so... GO HONEY!!

Look at meeeeee!! Today I drove Eric's stick shift all by myself for the first time!! I was SOO brave. I drove ALL the way to the dentist's office and back without Eric even in the car with me. BRAVERY!! Haha I didn't even crash... although I may have stalled once... or maybe twice.

Tonight we made Hawaiian haystacks for dinner! It was a pretty colorful meal.

The best part was that after dinner Eric let Bailey finish of his corn on the cob. It was amusing to watch! What made it funny is that Eric has been adamant for Bailey's entire life that she is NOT to be fed from the table and she is NOT to be allowed or encouraged to beg. Hm. So much for that. :)
