So there I was driving to work for my Monday morning meeting. I was in the fast lane on I-15 when suddenly my back right tire blew out. I got over to the left shoulder because I wasn't sure if i could make it to the right shoulder. I was almost to Draper... and stranded. Eric was asleep so I figured I'd call my dad and ask him what I should do. He happened to be headed northbound on I-15, so he pulled over when he got to where I was at, CLIMBED OVER THE WALL that divides northbound I-15 from southbound I-15 and helped me change my tire. Now, for the sake of my pride I should mention that I know very well how to change a tire by myself. I've done it multiple times. It was just that the tire that needed to be changed was right off of the carpool lane on the traffic side, where everyone was flying by at 80 miles an hour. I didn't think that I would be able to safely change it myself. So my dad pulled of this acrobatic crane-under-and-around-the-car tire changing stunt while I stood behind the car so the people would see us and hopefully move over. We lived. It made me pretty nervous though.
Unfortunately, the week before Eric had just bought new tires for his car. My tires were so worn that if I kept driving on them the other tire walls could have given out any day. So we now have eight new tires and we're $800 poorer. Fortunately we're good savers so it's not a huge detriment. The good news is, between Big-O and Les Schwab we now have 2 all-day passes to Lagoon and 2 passes to the Hogle Zoo!
